2 Month Dr Appointment
On December 10th, 2012 - We took Emerson to his new pediatrician. We ended up switching because at his last month's appointment the doctor had Emerson in his diaper waiting an hour in the room for him to check him and to get his shot. That was unacceptable plus mom found out that one of her people from work also went to our last doctor and he had missed a ton of stuff that was wrong going on with that baby. We absolutely love our new pediatrician. Its like the old days when the doctor did everything. He doesn't have a nurse and when you call after hours you actually talk to him on his cell not a service desk!!! When we went for his 2 month appointment he got his vaccines which included Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Haemophilus Influenza Type B, Inactivated Polovirus, Pneumococcal & Rotavirus. It ended up being 3 shots and one vaccine taken orally. He did amazing!! Quick cry and he was over it. His chart sizes were. 23 1/2 inches length, 39 cm in head, and 13 lbs 4 oz weight.

Bone Conduction Test
On December 5th, 2012 - We went back to Hinsdale Hospital to get Emerson's bone conduction test done on his ears. This test tested the nerves of his ears to see if he would be able to hear. Emerson had to be sleeping for this test. It was a real challenge to keep him up all morning for his test at 2:00pm. My mom and Chuck went with. We wanted my mom there to ask any questions that we may forget and just to understand terminology we might not understand. The more ears the better!! We got into the testing room and Emerson did such a great job staying still when he was asleep. Thankfully he was asleep for the test otherwise we would have had to put him under, which we were not willing to do with him being so young. The results showed that he would be able to hear at 20 hertz which is normal hearing. So we were very happy to hear that everything was fine with the nerves of his ears!! Thanks goodness!!

ENT Appointment
On November 20nd, 2012 - We visited the ENT to see what the next step was with Emerson's ears. The doctor came in and looked into his ears. He said that the pathway looked great that it was connected all the way through so there was nothing to worry about with that. He recommended getting the hearing test done again at his office. The hearing test came back with failed again. The doctor told us that there is probably fluid in his ears is the reason that he is failing his hearing test. He recommended that we do a bone conduction test to see if the ear nerves was normal. So our doctors appointment ended up being very uninformative. In the end we would have to wait and schedule yet another doctors appointment.
Follow-up Ear Dr
On November 20th, 2012 - We once again went out to Hinsdale Hospital for our follow-up with the ear doctor. Chuck and I were praying that he would pass his tests today. All week before this test we have been "testing" his hearing ourselves, by banging pots and clapping our hands to see if there was a reaction. Sometimes we got a reaction and sometimes we didn't. So we both didn't know what to think if he could hear or not. They performed the two usual hearing tests once again. He got a big fat FAILED again. The next step was to see an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) doctor. She recommended a pediatrician ENT, but we wouldn't be able to get into see her until December 17th. There was no way that we could wait that long to see what was going on with our Emerson. So I found another ENT through Hinsdale Hospital and he could get us in on November 22. We were so worried about Emerson and his ability to hear.
